HOURS: 40 Hours weekly
COMPENSATION: $20-$23 per hour commensurate with experience and education
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Under general supervision, provide developmentally appropriate care and supervision to children enrolled at Close Reach Academy; both develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum for children; establish and maintain supportive relationships with children and parents; act as a lead worker and model appropriate child care practices for your co-workers and assistants; and perform related work as required.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Understands that the main priority is the health and safety of each child and maintains ratio in accordance with licensing requirements
● Provides continuous supervision and classroom management in accordance with Close Reach Academy’s behavior management policies
● Plans, adapts and schedules age-appropriate curriculum involving various activities to stimulate children’s cognitive skills, abilities and development according to Washington State Benchmarks
● Ensures that the classrooms are kept clean, orderly, and safe
● Supports their coworkers in the various tasks of the day; for instance, setting up activities such as lunch, naps, games, etc.
● Records daily observations of children’s behavior and activities; monitors behavioral patterns and develops assessment and profiles
● Maintains accurate attendance and enrollment records; maintains appropriate confidential records
● Monitors children for signs of child abuse and reports incidents of suspected abuse to appropriate authorities
● Remains current in their knowledge of early childhood development and required continuing education
● Schedules parent/teacher conferences to discuss children’s development and concerns; works with family to devise learning and development strategies as necessary
● Follows all applicable licensing requirements and company policies
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
● Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or Child Development, Elementary Education, Psychology, or other equivalent degrees or experience
● 3+ years of experience working with kids in a group care setting
● 30 hours of STARS training
● First Aid/CPR training within the last two years
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
● High school diploma or GED
● 2+ years of experience working with kids in a group care setting
● A willingness to undergo a background check and obtain the required training certificates (30 hours STARS, First Aid/CPR, Washington State Food Handlers)
